Our new bell is at last installed!
After many months planning (and much saving), Saint Aidan's now has a bell. This bell was a gift from Fr. David Cawley and was originally cast as the first bell for the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. Its catholic heritage therefore is impeccable!
The bell is situated at the front of the Church and rings the Angelus 3 times a day, as well as calling worshippers to Church by ringing 33 times before each Mass.

There has been no bell at Saint Aidan's since the bell that was here was taken out of the tower and sold.
All in the community are pleased again that Saint Aidan's can now be heard all over the Estate of New Parks reminding all that the worship of Almighty God still continues in this holy place. (Please click on the pictures to see larger versions of the image). |
The bell was rededicated by Bishop Lindsey Urwin, Administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, at our Patronal Festival in August 2011 and has been a very welcome addition to the sounds of New Parks ever since. One comment from someone who lives in the parish was 'Its good to know that Saint Aidan's is back in business'!! Such is the importance of a bell in a Church!
