Saint Aidan's gets a new heating system!
A little over fifteen years ago, the original under floor heating system, designed by Basil Spence, broke down. The Vicar at the time, Fr. Kit Dunkley ssc acted quickly to ensure that there was heat in the building for the following Sunday's Mass and so the now famous wall heaters were installed.
Sadly, Fr. Kit was to move to a new post shortly after this and incredibly nothing subsequent was done to resolve this 'temporary' problem from that time until 2010 when it became our first priority after the 50th Birthday Celebrations had ended. It was inconceivable that the Church could remain so cold!

Many solutions were discussed, and the PCC after careful consideration signed a contract with Vulcana Heating Systems for a warm air heating solution.
Saint Aidan's now has 7 large heaters that can bring the temperature of the Church up to a much more tolerable 20 degrees in about half an hour. The following pictures were taken during the process of installation. Please click on the thumbnail to see the larger picture.
