One of the most sad looking parts of our parish was our Parish Hall that had been terribly neglected over the last fifteen years with virtually no programme of renovation or even decoration. The Parish of Saint Aidan decided that after the Golden Jubilee Celebrations were finished, the Hall was going to be their first priority - to turn back the neglect of the last decade and a half and to turn the Hall into a space that members of the community would want to use.
The fund-raising started in earnest in January 2010 and below you can see some of the works as they progressed. To date, the Parish has been able to renovate the toilets, create a new chair and table store in the lobby area, purchase new chairs and chair trolleys, create a proper servery for the kitchen, and most importantly finish the front of the Hall with a porch. On top of that, a new sound system has been installed, more storage has been created on the stage area and a new sign that features the Icon of our Patron now hangs over the stage.
Incredibly, all this has all been done in a little under six months and many thanks are due not only to those who have given Saint Aidan's the financial wherewithal to undertake this work, but also to the many workmen who have realised our plans.
