Our Director of Music - Roger Marvin

Roger Marvin was born in Leicester in 1965 and studied organ with Alec Gillies. He has been involved with Church music since the age of 7 as a chorister at S. Thomas’ Wigston, and as an organist since 1985. All his appointments as a Director of Music have been in and around Leicester, and has been at S. Aidan’s in New Parks since 1998. Since then, Roger has overseen the purchase of the well known new Eminent organ that was installed in S. Aidan’s in March 2007.

Other music making has included many concerts and recitals locally as well as his work as Accompanist to the Leicester Philharmonic Choir among others, working with such well known conductors as Hilary Daven Whetton, John Rutter, Karl Jenkins and David Lawrence. He is also Principal Conductor to the Leicester Philharmonic’s Chamber Choir which performs regularly throughout the country. Other appearances of note have included directing the music at York Minster for the Bishop of Beverley’s Northern Festival, as well as directing the music for the Bishop of Richborough’s Festivals in the Midlands. He also maintains a busy music teaching practice in his home town of Leicester.
